Why I Started Show Them the World

Long before I became a travel advisor, travel shaped some of my most meaningful memories. Becoming a Mom only strengthened my belief that shared experiences have the power to bring families closer together.

After years of seeing travelers overwhelmed by endless options, complex logistics, and one-size-fits-all trips, I knew there had to be a better way. I founded Show Them the World with a simple goal: to help families experience the world in a more thoughtful way while making the planning process easy and enjoyable.

By offering expert guidance, thoughtful personalization, and genuine care, you and your family can spend less time worrying about the details and more time making memories together.

Heather Vergara

Founder and Lead Advisor

Heather is the founder of Show Them the World and a luxury travel advisor specializing in thoughtfully-designed family journeys. She works with busy, high-achieving families to create travel experiences that feel seamless, meaningful, and entirely personalized.

After a successful career in marketing at PepsiCo, Heather chose to step away from the corporate world to focus on her family—a decision that ultimately led her to build a business around her lifelong passion for travel. In 2020, she founded Show Them the World with the goal of helping families experience travel in a more intentional yet effortless way.

Today, Heather is a Top Producer and multi-million dollar advisor with Gifted Travel Network, a boutique luxury host agency partnered with Virtuoso. She has designed custom itineraries for hundreds of families across destinations including Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

Heather brings both strategic expertise and personal experience to every trip she plans. As a mother of two who has traveled extensively with her own family, she understands how to balance logistics, pacing, and meaningful experiences to create trips that truly work for everyone.

She holds an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University, an Executive Education certificate in Digital Marketing from Columbia University, and a BA in Journalism from the University of North Carolina. She lives in Zionsville, Indiana with her husband, two kids, and two furry dogs.

Amanda Vetor

Travel Advisor

Amanda is a luxury travel advisor who specializes in designing personalized journeys for families who want to explore the world together. She brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to every itinerary, ensuring each trip reflects her clients' unique travel style and priorities.

Before joining Show Them the World, Amanda built a successful career in pharmaceutical sales leadership, where she developed a strong foundation in client relationships, communication, and strategic planning—skills she now brings to her work as a travel advisor.

Visiting 18 countries in the last 16 years, Amanda leverages her passion for traveling the world to create extraordinary experiences for her clients.

Amanda has a BS in Sales Management from Purdue University. She lives with her husband, two kids and two rescue dogs in Zionsville, Indiana. When she’s not traveling, you can find her trackside watching her son chase his racing dreams or ringside watching her equestrian daughter.

Heather Palmer

Travel Advisor specializing in family and multi-generational cruise vacations

Palmer is a travel advisor who specializes in helping larger families plan seamless, experience-rich vacations. She brings a thoughtful, family-first approach to every itinerary, with particular expertise in cruise travel.

Travel has been a meaningful part of Palmer’s life from an early age. Growing up in a family of eight, she experienced firsthand how travel can broaden perspectives and bring people closer together. Those early experiences shaped her belief in the value of exploring the world as a family.

Now with a large family of her own, Palmer has rediscovered her love of travel—especially cruising—through her children’s eyes. She understands how to design trips that balance adventure, relaxation, and togetherness, making travel feel both manageable and memorable for families of all sizes.

She holds a BS in Dental Hygiene from Utah College of Dental Hygiene and lives in Zionsville, Indiana with her husband, five children, and their goldendoodle. In addition to travel, she’s also a family photographer.

Sara Inman

Travel Designer

Sara spent much of her career in the corporate travel and events industry, designing luxury incentive trip experiences and managing memorable journeys for Fortune 500 clients. After living abroad with her family on the French, Swiss, and German border - an adventure that deepened her love of travel and cultural exploration - she was inspired to shift her focus to helping others create unforgettable personal travel experiences.

As a Travel Designer, Sara combines her industry expertise with her passion for discovering new destinations. She loves helping clients turn their travel dreams into thoughtfully planned, worry-free adventures filled with memories they will cherish forever.

Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Indiana University. She lives in Avon, Indiana, with her husband and three children. When she's not planning her next getaway, you'll find her at Pilates, cheering on her kids at their many sporting events, and giving back to her community through volunteer work.

Kelly Smith

Office Manager

After 11 years in the classroom as an elementary teacher and 7 years as an office manager for two small businesses, Kelly decided to combine her passion for travel with her organizational efficiency skills. As Office Manager, Kelly supports all the "behind the scenes" work at Show Them the World, ensuring your vacations are seamless and spectacular!

Kelly received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University and her M.S.Ed from Indiana University in Educational Administration. She is passionate about spending time in the sunshine, reading good books, taking walks with friends, and, of course, her family. Kelly lives with her husband, two children, and two dogs in Zionsville, Indiana.

Amanda Vela

Digital Marketing

Amanda Vela is a “go-getter” communications and public relations professional with a background in media relations, social media marketing, and content creation. Her day job is Social Media Manager for Group 1001. On the side, Amanda supports the digital marketing efforts for Show Them the World. She lives in Zionsville with her husband and three kids, one of whom is a chocolate lab.
